Chapter History

TODAY IS:

The history of Executive Women International dates back to 1938 when Lucille Johnson Perkins conceived of the idea of forming an association in which women could work to promote their firms, increase their value to the firm, and better their communities. On March 28, 1938, the initial group met in San Francisco and officially organized.

Oklahoma City business executives recognized the value of the organization and in May of 1959, a chapter was chartered in Okahoma City. Since that time, the Oklahoma City Chapter has grown to include 57 firms and 62 representatives, representing a cross-section of the Oklahoma City metropolitan business community.

Programs focus on showcasing member firms and their products or services at Firm Nights. Executives' Night is held annually honoring executives and their firms.

The affairs of the Chapter are managed and directed by a Board of Directors, including: President, Vice-President/President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms, Program Director, Membership Director, Publication Director, Ways and Means Director, and a Director-at-Large. In addition, several committees including Philanthropy and Scholarship provide recommendations to the members regarding various projects.
